Singapore Discovery Centre Trip - Sponsored by OMY
*Warning! Looong entry with lots of photos ahead! =D *

Gosh, I really had a SUPER DUPER FUN day on 15th November 2008 (Saturday!) at the Singapore Discovery Centre, with THANKS to OMY! I'm so touched that everything was sponsored, including the Yummy-licious pizza and chicken wings lunch! This entry is specially dedicated to OMY! =D~

I had brought Wen along as my partner! (I hope you had fun too!) Thanks to her camera, I am able to produce sooo many pictures for this entry!

    And our journey begins.... (Whoohoo!)

The event was supposed to start at 11.30am, and we were led to a "loyalty classroom" by a nice lady named Gene, which is located inside the centre. (Yeah, what a nice name for a classroom! Haha!)

As we were the first few who reached, I started exploring the room with great interest. (And snapped pictures,OF COURSE! Hehe.)

Okay, I know readers may think I am insane, taking pictures of the classroom. BUT HEY, they're all part of this GREAT memory! =P

Wen and I went to mingle with two other bloggers aka new friends (Xin Ting and Debbie! =D~) and sat together for lunch. The girls were so sociable and hyper! Haha. =P Had fun chatting with them though.

Afterwhich, we proceeded outside the room to another part of the SDC, with a pretty tour guide joining us. =D~ We were introduced some facts and stuff about Singapore.

Ahh, talk about the reminisence of the old times...

As we went further inside, there's a pretty neon light that flashes "SO SINGAPORE!"

Weets! I lovee it. Heh. The lights are pretty!

*Snap! Snap!* Fellow bloggers taking pictures excitedly!

We came across a huge semi-circle display that constantly changes into different colors. Yeah, it was in a shade of red when this picture was taken. Weets! Talking about beauty!

As we ventured deeper, we came across different 'game machines'. (Not sure what they're actually called though! *blushes*)

The game will be controlled by the player, and is portrayed onto the large upfront screen ! Wow, how cool is that?! (I managed to lay my hands on a game machine that is in Tamil language =_= Ah well, better than nothing.)

After playing awhile, we proceeded to a section that aroused my interest. Its so damn cool, I tell you! Yes, its the "Reporter's" section, whereby anyone can be an on-screen news reporter. Its the place where one can get the feeling of how being a news reporter is like.
    (For shiok-ness only, lah. Haha)

The tour guide was urging us to try out. However, everyone was so pai seh (including me. LOL!) that no one volunteered.
In the end, one guy blogger was sabotaged... ... and Yup! He's ON!

    5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... and ACTION!

Kudos for his courage! Some of us were laughing during the process, especially when we did not notice that there was actually a "play-back" function. Looking at the screen, we broke into hips of laughter.

Moving on to the next section, I saw 2 machines that look like game machines. Ahh, they're actually machines that allow the player(s) to control and prevent against a terrorism act in Singapore. Of course, everything is fictional, but brilliant! The "game" had actually used Raffles Place MRT Station as the target, and the player's mission is to check and avoid the tragedy of terrorism.

Ahh well, this player had actually failed in his mission. I saw Raffles Place MRT Station burst into flames! Gaaahh!!! *wails*

Well, I should say the SDC has indeed done a good job at invoking our fear of terrorism- and how to prevent this tragedy from happening. We got a chance to experience a "terrorist attack" in a simulator theatre, whereby the metallic ground we were standing will really SHAKE upon the screen showing a MRT burst into flames. Loud explosion was heard, and the ground shook . It was indeed scary.

Picture taken before the simulator show started. Notice that there is a metallic bar ? I guess its for support to prevent from falling/losing balance due to the shaking and vibration during the simulation show.)

This picture was captured when the screen showed a bomb timer ticking off... to 0:00!
After this was taken, there was a loud explosion and the ground underneath us vibrated.

Coming to the end, the screen showed tragic moments of firefighters rescuing victims. The sight was horrifying. Bodies were lying everywhere, and a young malay (or was it indian?) girl wailing loudly as she laid helplessly onto a rescuer's arms. Her parents were nowhere in sight. The MRT became a pile of rubber, and fire was burning. (Oh my goodness, every minor detail(s) look SOO real! It was as if this tragedy had actually happened.)

(I actually heaved a sigh of relief as I know everything was fake, and that the MRT did not really burst into flames from a terrorist attack. However, it deeply invoked my inner fear. What we saw can actually happen in real life! Ahh~ We must try our best to prevent it from happening!)

After we got out from the simulator theatre, we headed to another interactive games section. Interested visitors can try to participate in the game together through Q & A questions!

Wen and I did not participate in the game, but only joined as audiences. We chatted and kept taking photographs. LOL.
When the game ended, we headed to another section again. On our way, Wen captured this picture in which she thinks is beautiful. (I do agree that the spiral shape is cool indeed! =D!)

Soon after, we found ourselves in a "Star wars" looking place, with LOTS of computerised machines. Each and every one of us can get involved in DESIGNING the future Singapore! We were able to choose between BUGIS, VIVO and ORCHARD from the different specific machines.

Initially, I got the Bugis one, but later "converted" into Orchard when I chose a different machine.

Yeah, lah. It was me figuring the machine. (Psst, my Oreo tote cute hor? Zhong Hui's birthday present for ME! HAHA!)

Maybe out of boredom, Wen took a picture of the pretty lights in the studio.

Some random picture of building models on our way out: (Somehow it reminded me of my school current project!)

The guide took us to one of the most interesting and FUN part of SDC. Its the SDC's infamous robot, Little George!

This robot is brilliant. We were told that it can respond to simple questions, and the guide urged us to shoot questions.

Gene shot a hilarious question: DO YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?
Little George replied: GIRLFRIEND? WOULD YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND?

Everyone broke into laughter. We were then further told that this robot has its program updated every week or so, thus its able to respond to frequently asked questions. :)
Wow, speaking about modern technology! Hehe.

Okay, some random photo of me posing for the camera: =_= I know, its blur!

Some other photos of the last section:

And LOOK! Its a mini CAMERA!

We were able to take photos with different cool background provided inside a "neo-print like machine". I took 3/4 of my face just for testing, and I keyed in my email address into the system.
AND YES! The picture got delivered to my email when I got back home! :D

Right, there was one part which I did not take any photos as its a theatre. But just to blog about it, we watched 2 marvellous movies! One in 3-D (FLY ME TO THE MOON), and another in 2-D (Light Before Christmas) giant screen.
The 3-D one got me amazed! I had always wanted to experience a 3-D movie since I heard about it ages ago, and I finally had my chance that day! (WEETS!)

It was even better than I expected, the characters in the show looked so REAL, just as though they're RIGHT in front of me. Some audiences, including me, even tried to REACH OUT to "touch" the characters. LOL.

Not only did we explore the SDC that day, we even got the opportunity to get onto a guided bus tour... ...AND TO THE ARMY MUSEUM OF SINGAPORE!

Sad to say, we only stayed around the museum for 30 minutes due to time constraint. Nevertheless, we still benefited from the museum trip :)

When we got back to the SDC, we were brought to the XD THEATRE, which will only be opened to public on 1st December 2008. Thus, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to blog about the details here. Anyway, we were the first few to experience and preview the excitement of it! Really can't thank Omy enough! :) The XD Theatre is defintely ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE thingy I'd ever experienced. The captivating moments, etc. HOW I WISH TO GET A 2nd CHANCE AT IT AGAIN!!!

Before our day ended, four of us (Wen, Xin Ting, Debbie and ME!) "sneaked" to a real gun/rifle game section. Its the place where we got the chance to actually carry a REAL HEAVY rifle and gun used by the military. Each game costs $6. (A bit expensive!)
Though we did not play it, the guy tending the section was so nice and friendly. He even offered to help us take pictures with the guns and rifles!!

    The real deal

We also took some more photos of us with the rifles/guns, but I look quite unglam in them. Heh heh. Thus, Im not uploading! ;p

Before I end it off, I would like to express my thanks once again to OMY, for giving and sponsoring us the opportunities to explore fascinating stuff. I will never forget that fun-filled day!
I hope that we will have a chance to meet again for future outings/events, that is, if I'm still so fortunate to be selected again! =D

    The group picture!

    真是高興我能夠體驗到一個前所未有的感覺!
